2025 Grants

In 2025, Onwards Ojai — the first living experiment of B. A Good Ancestor DAF — began putting its vision into action with the launch of its first round of community grants.

This inaugural cycle focuses on organizations that nurture Ojai's children, supporting four essential pillars: Nourishment, Purpose, Wonder, and Heart–Mind–Body.

Each grant represents more than financial support - it's a shared commitment to measure impact, collaborate locally, and build the systems that allow Ojai's nonprofits to grow stronger and attract more funding over time.

Together, we're creating a replicable model for place-based philanthropy, proving that when generosity is rooted in one community, its ripple can reach the world.

Food for Thought Ojai

Food for Thought Ojai provides nutritious meals, nutrition education, and support for Ojai Valley students, ensuring that every child can focus on learning without the distraction of hunger. This grant expands their reach into schools and after-school programs.

Poco Farm

Poco Farm is a regenerative learning farm that connects children and families with nature, animals, and sustainable food systems. This grant supports free after-school farm education and increases organic food provision for local families in need.

Ojai Valley Youth Foundation

The Ojai Valley Youth Foundation empowers young people with leadership training, mentorship, and civic engagement opportunities. This grant strengthens their programs designed to help youth discover their sense of purpose and belonging in the community.

GirlsEmpowerment Workshop

Reins of H.O.P.E.

Reins of H.O.P.E. provides equine-assisted therapy for children and families experiencing trauma, grief, and transition. This grant helps sustain their healing programs, offering safety, strength, and connection through the human–horse bond.

Oak Grove School

Oak Grove School, founded on the teachings of Jiddu Krishnamurti, fosters curiosity, consciousness, and a lifelong love of learning. This grant supports programs that nurture children’s innate wonder and encourage exploration of both self and world.

Magic Garden

Magic Garden, a Waldorf-inspired early childhood center, cultivates imagination, rhythm, and connection to nature as the foundation for lifelong well-being. This grant supports programs that nurture children’s emotional intelligence, creativity, and sense of belonging through play, storytelling, and care for the natural world.
